Seoul, Korea, October 12, 2011—SK Planet today announced the launch of ‘NFC-based Mobile Membership Issuance
Service’ by applying the latest NFC technology to Smart Wallet, its mobile wallet service.
SK Planet becomes the first company in Korea to introduce NFC Mobile Membership Issuance Service, which uses NFC tag
for convenient issuance of mobile membership.
 
NFC (Near Field Communication) is a set of short-range wireless technologies that use 13.56 MHz frequency band to enable
data transmission among devices located around 10 centimeters or less away from each other. As it can realize many application
services like mobile payment, NFC is increasingly being applied to daily life services to deliver greater customer convenience.  
 
SK Planet formed the first partnership with Kolon to provide mobile membership card issuance service using NFC tags at
160 nationwide stores of Head, Kolon's sports brand, and Custom Mellow, a character casual brand for men.
 
The biggest strength of the NFC-based mobile membership issuance lies in its fast and simple process compared to that
of the existing off-line membership card issuance.
 
Customers can easily be issued with Kolon Mobile Membership by simply tapping the NFC tag attached to a print material
with their smartphones and passing a mobile phone verification process. The issued membership card is automatically stored
in the Smart Wallet and can easily be used to accumulate and use rewards points as well as to receive coupons.
 
SK Planet is currently holding a free gift event to encourage customers to gain a first-hand experience of the service. The company
will be giving out gift coupons, which can be later exchanged for Kolon Sport’s high quality socks, to 50,000 of ‘Smart Wallet’ users
who visit one of the 160 stores and download Kolon mobile membership. In addition, it is giving away one iPad 2 per day to a
member customer who makes a purchase at these stores through a random selection process. SK Planet is also giving gift
coupons that can later be exchanged for card holder to 4,500 consumers selected by the order of arrival at Custom Mellow.

Smart Wallet is a mobile wallet service that enables users to store membership cards, coupons, Gifticons and gift certificates.
Currently the company is offering mobile membership service at about 60,000 stores nationwide under partnerships with
108 brands including SPC Happy Point, CJ ONE, Lotte Members, OK Cashbag and 11st. It is also strengthening its service lineup
by launching Family Mart gift certificates. Moreover, SK Planet has recently conducted a full-scale User Interface (UI) revamp
to realize new features like store locator and membership/ credit card discount information search, thereby delivering greater
customer convenience.
