SK Planet - Siheung Police Station to Offer Korea’s First Safe Return Service for Pedestrians

2013.10.24
-  Launches a public-private partnership to add location information of 26,000 anti-crime facilities
   throughout Siheung to T Map

-  T Map for Pedestrians to include ‘Safe Return Home Route Guidance’ and ‘Contact 112’ to ensure
   safe and quick return home

-  Expects the Safe Return Service to become a nationwide service that enables people to
get home safe at all times

Seoul, Korea, October 24, 2013—SK Planet today announced that it joined hands with Siheung Police Station
to develop a service that enables people to get home safe by combining T Map, a location-based information service
that has 1.7 million users, and the Police Station’s information on anti-crime facilities located in the Siheung area.

The service will be included in 「T Map for Pedestrians (tentatively named)」, which is scheduled to be released
in the end of this year, and will include features like “Safe Return Home Route Guidance,” which enables users
to find the safest route home by displaying location of CCTV security cameras, security lights, 24 hour convenience
stores and Keeping Children Safe Houses in Siheung on T Map’s digital maps.

SK Planet and Siheung Police Station signed a partnership agreement for “Safe Return Service for Pedestrians”
on September 23, 2013 at Siheung Police Station located in Siheung, Gyeongi-do, with the attendance of Kim Hoo-jong,
Head of LBS Business Division of SK Planet, and Jung Yong-geun, Chief of Siheung Police Station.
Under the agreement, Siheung Police Station will provide location information of around 26,000 security facilities
installed in the entire Siheung area.

From the end of 2013, anyone in Siheung will be able to use the “Safe Return Home Route Guidance”
service via T Map, and in case of an emergency while walking home, the user can touch the “Contact 112” button
on the screen to receive immediate help.

Moreover, the company plans to introduce a voice-guided anti-crime facility information service, which is similar
to an automobile navigation system, within the first half of 2014 to allow pedestrians to take a safe route home
by avoiding high-crime neighborhoods and areas without surveillance cameras.

“Safe Return Service for Pedestrians, promoted under a public-private partnership to make sure that everyone,
especially women and children, who are more vulnerable to crimes, get home safe at night, is very meaningful
in that it can be expanded nationwide and promoted in a constant manner,” said Jung Yong-geun,
Chief of Siheung Police Station.

“It is a great pleasure for SK Planet to be able to contribute to improving safety of residents and the community
by combining the security infrastructure of Siheung City and SK Planet’s cutting-edge LBS technology,”
said Kim Hoo-jong, Vice President and Head of LBS Business Division of SK Planet. “After introducing Safe
Return Service for Pedestrians in Siheung, we will make redoubled efforts to expand the service to the entire
nation so that everyone can return home safe every day.”
