SK Planet Gtrac Delivers Mobile-Optimized Fleet Control Service

2013.11.04
-  SK Planet to offer upgraded gtrac, Korea’s first total fleet control service optimized for the mobile with wi-fi tachograph
-  Gtrac to partner with Korea’s No. 1 freight forwarder with 46,000 members for extended cooperation in diverse areas

Seoul, Korea, November 4, 2013—SK Planet announced that it will be delivering a suite of fully mobile optimized
and integrated control services for the management of cargo fleets and logistics operation.

SK Planet revealed that it will be introducing the ‘automatic operation data push’ feature to its gtrac,
the total fleet management and control service. This new functionality enabled by NFC tags will be added
in November to Korea’s first wi-fi digital tachograph (DTG) that is a part of gtrac.

In response to the new policy of mandating freight vehicles to have DTG systems installed by the end of this year,
SK Planet has developed three proprietary DTG models—i.e. regular, mobile and wi-fi—which are now available
at 11st and other sales channels.

The wi-fi type DTG developed by SK Planet is the first of its kind in Korea. It gathers data
by tethering, using the driver’s smartphone as a hotspot. The data is then sent to the server for a more
reliable provision of data. The NFC tags make the whole process much easier. Instead of having to activate
the app and make a point of sending the data, all you need to do is to simply hold the smartphone close,
and the information about the vehicle is automatically sent to the control center.

SK Planet has a partnership with Korea 24si Infocall, the number one freight forwarder in Korea with
over 46,000 members. The connection between the devices of the forwarders and the control center will
be made more scalable and efficient to meet the demands of the customers and optimize the total
operation control service. SK Planet looks forward to more proactive cooperation with logistics and freight
forwarding players in these industries.

Kim Hu-jong, Head of Location Based Services explained, “We will build on our very own LBS technology,
which we are proud to be the number one in Korea, as well as our wealth of experience in services to
deliver the most optimum offering to our customers.” Regarding the next steps forward Kim added,
“We will endeavor to develop new markets and become an industry leader by using the smartphone
and its capability to connect with other devices to create a true Internet of Things (IOT).”

Gtrac (http://tacho.gtrac.co.kr) is an integrated tachograph platform built with SK Planet’s LBS technology
that has evolved over a decade. T map’s traffic information, maps and route search technologies have been
applied to the integrated platform to provide data on vehicle operation real-time. The platform supports
management of tachograph records, freight forwarding, cab operation and public transit as well as
the transportation management system (TMS).

Gtrac now covers over 30,000 vehicles across Korea including taxis, buses, cargo trucks and
special-purpose vehicles, such as police cars, fire engines and garbage trucks. It analyzes the behavioral
patterns of the driver to guide him or her to drive safely while minimizing waste of energy to enhance fuel economy.
Gtrac contributes to both safer and more economic driving by assisting drivers to be more efficient and
to avoid accidents, which naturally leads to lower insurance premia and the cost of dealing with accidents.
