SK Planet-Seoul Metropolitan Government Join Hands for the Provision of Safe Return Home Service

2014.02.17
-  To offer NFC-enabled Safe Return Home Service at taxis operating in the Seoul Metropolitan City
-  Aimed at enhancing everyday convenience of Seoul citizens and boosting the growth of the taxi industry

Seoul, Korea, February 17, 2014—SK Planet (CEO: Jinwoo So, www.skplanet.com) and Seoul Metropolitan
Government (Mayor: Park Won-soon, http://www.seoul.go.kr) today announced a partnership agreement for
the provision of ‘Alimi-C’ Safe Return Home Service. The smartphone-based mobile service aimed at enhancing
everyday convenience of Seoul citizens and boosting the growth of the taxi industry was signed today at Seoul City Hall.

Under the partnership, SK Planet’s NFC-enabled Safe Return Home Service will be offered at 7,800
Navicall taxis by the end of February before expanding its coverage to include all the Navicall taxis
operating in the Seoul Metropolitan City. Moreover, the service will be made available at all cabs
running in the City, including the 15,000 taxis under pilot program from January this year.

To assist cab passengers to get home safely, ‘Alimi-C’ takes advantage of Near Field Communication
(NFC) which is a set of short-range wireless technologies that allow data transfers between devices
within short distances. Passengers can simply tap their smartphone against the NFC tag attached
to the car seat to send taxi-related information such as automobile model, current time, location,
and so forth to their guardian via text message.

SK Planet and Seoul Metropolitan Government’s plan to expand ‘Alimi-C’ to all the taxis operating
in the Seoul region is expected to largely contribute to the growth of the taxi industry as city residents
can take a late night cab with a sense of security.

“Following the launch of pilot program in Busan and Daegu, we are thrilled to deliver Safe Return
Home service to Seoul City residents,” said Lee Hae-yeol, Head of LBS Business Division of SK Planet.
“SK Planet is committed to offering compelling and innovative services that ensure our citizens to
travel home safely.”
