Seoul, Korea, March 4, 2014SK Planet has begun recruiting prospective venture entrepreneurs to participate in T Academy’s spring training program on how to succeed as a start-up. T Academy is the educational arm of SK Planet, which supports participants to acquire the skills and knowledge needed to succeed as a venture enterprise in the mobile industry.

The T Academy Experts 2.0 is designed to teach the skills required of mobile IT developers on the one hand, and to give a taste of what it is like to do business as a start-up. Participants with divergent professional backgrounds are brought together for a richer experience. The upcoming spring program has a stronger mentoring component, which will be delivered by CEOs of successful start-ups as well as investors.

The opportunity to network with competent developers and designers is another benefit the program offers to prospective venture entrepreneurs as they can build on this network to find the people needed to make the business successful.

The stellar line-up of speakers and mentors includes CEOs Lee Hee-woo of IDG Ventures Korea, Park Sung-joon of 9Flava and Choi Hwan-jin of IgniteSpark. Participants can also present their planned business model and strategies to get evaluation and consulting from seasoned experts.

T Academy Experts 2.0 consists of Business Development, Android Programming, Design and Server Experts courses. Eighty people will be selected based on a document screening followed by an interview. Applications must be submitted by March 9 through the SK Planet’s Open Innovation Center website (http://oic.skplanet.com/).

Applicants can apply as individuals or as a team. A team should consist of no less than two people applying for at least two different courses from a choice of four, namely Business Development, Software Development, Server and Design.

“T Academy hope to support would-be start-ups with creativity and challenging spirit by providing education and mentoring free of charge,” said Jang Dong-hyeon, SK Planet’s COO. “We will continue to work hard to make the relevant knowledge of mobile IT more widely accessible as a way of populating a healthy ecosystem of experts in the field and promoting their collective growth.
