SK Planet Signs MOU with Interpark Tour for Location-Based Travel and Hotel Information Service

2014.03.10
- T Map and mobile hotel booking service Check In Now agree to partnership
- Check In Now offers to be made available on T Map for an expanded mobile customer interface
- New synergies to emerge as 25% of T Map users look for travel and leisure destinations

Seoul, Korea, March 5, 2014—SK Planet (CEO: Jinwoo So, www.skplanet.com) and Interpark Tour (CEO: Park Jin-young, tour.interpark.com) on March 4 signed an MOU at the Korea Chamber of Commerce to partner in the business of providing travel and hotel information to customers.

Pursuant to the MOU, SK Planet can offer the Check In Now service on its mobile navigation platform T Map which may be leveraged to expand the customer-mobile interface as well as raise business efficiency.

When T Map users key in the name of an accommodation such as a hotel, a condo or a pension, they can also view nearby alternatives that are available via Check In Now. The partnership allows Interpark Tour to make its real-time travel information and booking application more attractive by offering the powerful GPS navigation capability of T Map.

Check In Now holds information on over 3,000 hotels, condos and pensions across Korea. It is widely popular for the Tonight Only offers that are available exclusively on the mobile app. The users can book hotels in the morning at prices discounted by maximum 86% for check-in on the same day.

Of the top 1,000 destinations users have searched on T Map, more than 25% relate to vacation, leisure and sports. The potential, therefore, for synergy between Check In Now and T Map is quite obvious.

Park Jin-young, CEO of Interpark Tour, says he “looks forward to making life easier for customers as they will now be able to check out and book accommodations on the move.” He is determined to “diversify and strengthen the channel through which Interpark Tour has served travelers, moving beyond the online into the mobile to better meet their needs.”

Lee Hae-yeol, Senior Vice President and Head of LBS Business Division of SK Planet believes, “the MOU will provide a convenient travel experience for our customers and new business opportunities for the local hospitality industry.” According to Lee, SK Planet plans to “develop new business models based on diverse partnerships to propel shared growth.”
