SK Planet announced that it today holds Planet X Conference to officially launch the company’s open platform Planet X at
Grand Intercontinental Seoul Parnas Hotel Grand Ballroom, located in Gangnam-gu, Seoul.
In today’s event, SK Planet will unveil Planet X, an open platform that offers major service features and functionalities of
SK Planet and its affiliated companies in the form of open API (Application Programming Interface) to outside developers.
Through Planet X, the company will publish 186 APIs of its eight services, namely, T Map, T Cloud, hoppin, T Ad, 11 St,
MelOn, Cyworld, and NateOn, as well as over 80 component APIs of One ID, social, comment, messaging, and more.
Moreover, in order to facilitate the development of new and innovative services that utilize SK Planet’s 260+ API offerings,
the company will give developers access to diverse development environments.
Going forward, SK Planet plans to increase the list of its open APIs by releasing APIs for T Store and shopping portal Basket,
while publishing additional APIs of existing eight services.
Jeon Yoon-ho, SVP and Head of SK Planet’s Platform R&D Office will open the Planet X Conference with a keynote
speech at 10 a.m. which will be followed by presentations covering the vision, structure, and core components of Planet X,
as well as its policies. The event will also feature demonstrations of each API and showcases of what other developers
have built using Planet X, giving developers valuable opportunity to fully understand each function and design services
that integrate such functionalities.
Moreover, the conference will include an awards ceremony to recognize the winners of Code Sprint 2012, an annual online
programming competition which kicked off on October 12, and sessions introducing startup support programs run by
SK Planet’s Open Innovation Center.
Meanwhile, Hackathon, an app development competition will be held on the spot from 3 p.m. in which developers will be
asked to complete assigned tasks that involve experiencing Planet X open platform as well as free tasks. Winning teams
will not only receive a wide range of prizes but gain access to additional benefits from SK Planet’s Open Innovation Center
including support to convert their ideas into actual services.
