SK Planet today announced T Store’s (m.tstore.co.kr) results for 2012.

T Store has solidified its position as Korea’s leading open market for mobile content, favored by 18.5 million registered users who enjoys its 370,000 published content offerings. As of December, the largest marketplace of its kind in Korea crossed the milestone of 1.1 billion cumulative downloads with its cumulative transaction volume exceeding KRW 235 billion.

Patterns of usage show that T Store attracted daily unique visitors of 2.6 million in 2012 and on Fridays when traffic typically peaks, the number of visitors who downloaded content from T Store reached 710,000.

The categories that saw impressive growth in the number of downloads are not just App and Games, but VOD and E-Book also delivered strong results. Compared to the previous year, VOD and e-book downloads as a percentage of the total, grew by eight-fold and six-fold, respectively.

SK Planet explains that such growth is attributable to the increasing penetration of large-screen smartphones and significant progress in the deployment of LTE network. Greater diversity and quantity of content offerings at T Store is also encouraging users to enjoy e-book, video, and other multimedia content with their smartphones.

SK Planet released T Store top download charts by category based on the figures from January to November this year.
Chart toppers in the Games category were Casual and SNS games such as Angry Birds Series, Tiny Farm, Rule the Sky, and Kart Rider Rush+2.0, with five SNS apps including Cymera and Cyworld making their way into the top ten list in the Fun category.

Meanwhile, SK Planet will host T Store Awards, which serves to recognize the overall excellence of mobile content, from 6:00 p.m. at Sheraton D-Cube City. Among 34,000 T Store developers who contributed to the growth of mobile ecosystem, 270 have been invited to attend. Award winners will be those who stood out from the rest in terms of downloads and revenue.

“For the past three years, T Store has been committed to fostering a strong mobile ecosystem at home and abroad, based on its policy of openness and co-existence,” said Park Jung-min, Senior Vice President and Head of T Store Business Division of SK Planet. “We will continue to make creative and ceaseless efforts with developers to grow into a global content distribution hub that not only appeals to Korean users but enjoys strong support from global customers.”
