Seoul, Korea, February 18, 2013—SK Planet today announced that KT and LG U+ smartphone subscribers using
T Store have topped 3 million.
T Store has opened its services to subscribers of all three wireless carriers since May 2010, in line with its policy
of openness and sharing, after initially launching the service for SK Telecom customers in September 2009.
Starting with a mere 7,000 KT and LG U+ subscribers in June 2010, T Store attracted a cumulative total of 300,000 users
by September 2011. Just four months later, the number hit 1 million and continued its growth momentum to cross the
3 million subscriber milestone in February 2013.
SK Planet said that the sheer amount of content and user-friendly system that T Store offers explain such rapid increase
in the number of KT and LG U+ users who have to access mobile web and install client to use T Store.
T Store, a mobile marketplace for content, currently offers 400,000 contents in the categories of games, app, VOD, music,
e-book, webtoon, shopping/coupon and more.
T Stores also allows users to modify the screen UI as well as the order of the categories to reflect personal preferences,
while recommending contents base on the individual’s age, gender and purchase preferences. Moreover, customers have
diverse payment options to choose from—charging purchases to mobile phone bill, using credit card, OK Cashbag,
T Store Cash, gift certificate, T Money and more.
Currently, T Store is available on 69 Android-based smart device models serviced by SK Telecom, 45 by KT and 32 models
working on LG U+ network. SK Planet plans to further increase the number to include nearly every Android smart device
released in Korea in the future.
“For the past three years, T Store has been committed to fostering a strong mobile ecosystem at home and abroad,
based on the policy of innovation, openness and co-existence,” said Park Jung-min, Senior Vice President and Head of
T Store Business Division of SK Planet. “We will continue to make creative and ceaseless efforts to grow T Store into a global
content distribution hub that not only appeals to Korean users but enjoys strong support from global customers.”
Meanwhile, T Store will hold a Thank You Event for six days from February 18 to 23, allowing users to enjoy 40% discounts
on eight items including VIPS salad bar ticket, MegaBox weekend couple package and Britz headphone. For more information,
