Watch Terrestrial TV in T Store Just 15 Minutes After Original Airtime

2013.01.14
-  Lead time from TV broadcast to T Store upload slashed to bare minimum
-  TV shows encoded during airtime and uploaded to T Store server to deliver contents at the speed of light
-  T Store Cash giveaway to continue until January 23 for buyers of TV contents within an hour of upload to T Store

Seoul, Korea, January 14, 2013 – SK Planet today announced that it will support ‘lightspeed upload’ of terrestrial
TV programs to T Store, its content marketplace.

T Store has revamped its video upload system to allow replay of drama and entertainment programs just 15 minutes
after their original broadcast on terrestrial TV.

Fifteen minutes is the time required to encode a TV content into the T Store video format and upload it to the server.
Previously, it took minimum two hours before those who had missed the original broadcast could watch it on mobile;
reason enough to anticipate an enthusiastic reception by many smartphone users who have favorite shows
they cannot bear to miss.

The dramatic cut in the lead time was made possible by the ‘real-time encoding’ process. In the past, the encoding and
uploading could only be done after the broadcaster sent over the video file to T Store to work on. The new system
captures, encodes and creates the video file and program information as the show is being aired.
To celebrate the service launch, T Store will present 50,000 won in T Store Cash to 100 lucky customers. To be eligible
you must purchase by January 23 at least one episode of The Horse Doctor, Jeon Woo Chi, My Daughter Seo Young,
Infinite Challenge, 1 Night 2 Days
or Running Man within an hour of its upload to T Store.

Park Jung-min, Senior Vice President and Head of T Store Business Division of SK Planet, emphasized,
“The 15-minute upload service was one of our efforts to deliver new benefits and values to customers through
technology and process innovation.” With great conviction he added, “We will continue our innovation to make
T Store the best playground in the world.”
