Seoul, Korea, June 25, 2013—SK Planet announced today that it signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU)
with Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) and will jointly hold the 2013 Smart Travel App Development Competition as
the first step of the cooperation.
 
Under the partnership, the two organizations will work together to run programs aimed at nurturing and supporting
developers, give travelers easy and user-friendly access to travel information, and create jobs for youth.  
 
The first collaborative activity resulting from the MOU is the 2013 Smart Travel App Development Competition.
Among 20 teams that survive the first round of cut, 15 teams will be named final winners through three-tier
evaluation procedure at the end of October.
 
KTO CEO Award winning team will receive a cash prize of KRW 20 million and an opportunity for overseas
training (4 persons for 1 week), with SK Planet CEO Award recipient taking away KRW 10 million. Runner-up
teams will also be honored with excellence awards (3 teams) along with a prize money of KRW 5 million, with
honorary prize winners (5 teams) each taking home KRW 3 million and each participation prize recipient (5 teams)
winning KRW 1 million.
     
Any corporate or individual developer is eligible to apply and propose apps that leverage KTO’s TourAPI* and
SK Planet’s open platform. Any rights connected to the proposed service belong to the developer. Visit SK Planet’s

*TourAPI is open API (Application Program Interface) that provides more than 50,000 pieces of multi-language
travel information.
 
Meanwhile, KTO and SK Planet will hold a briefing session covering 2013 Smart Travel App Development Competition
on June 27 at KTO exhibition hall (KTO headquarters B1, Cheonggyecheon-ro 40, Jung-gu). The session will include
introduction to the app competition, KTO’s TourAPI as well as its major functionalities, while highlighting diverse
functions of SK Planet’s open platform.
