SK Planet Presents the NFC-based Smart Stadium

2013.08.08
-  NFC tags based Smart Stadium launched at Munhak Baseball Stadium
-  Over 100 NFC Tag Zones for buying mobile tickets, playing games, using special offer coupons and
other services linking online and offline

-  Gifts and prizes to be given away on the spot to Smart Stadium users starting on August 10

Seoul, Korea, August 8, 2013—SK Planet announced the launch of the Smart Stadium service at Munhak Baseball
Stadium in Incheon. Transformed by NFC technology the stadium will bring a whole new experience to sports fans.

NFC tags have been installed in more than 100 places, including the ticket booth and walls at the entrances of the
stadium, turning them into NFC Tag Zones. Users of NFC-enabled smartphones can enjoy the Smart Stadium
services free of charge.

Visitors to the stadium have only to swipe their devices against the NFC tags at Munhak Stadium to buy mobile
tickets, play interactive games like Baseball Game and Treasure Hunt, access special benefits offered by OK
Cashbag merchants in the vicinity, communicate one on one with the SK Wyverns and follow the team on SNS.

Smart Stadium works on the basis of NFC tags, and the user does not need to install an app or sign up for
membership in order to access its services. SK Wyverns also benefits from clearer visibility to the user’s
responses to their offerings, which can help improve the efficiency of stadium management.

Another group that can benefit from Smart Stadium are over 28,000 merchants that can market themselves
through the NFC coupon service platform of the Smart Stadium. SK Planet has signed OK Cashbag partnership
deals with retailers on Rodeo Street located near Munhak Station. These merchants can offer discount coupons
via the Smart Stadium platform.

To celebrate the launch of Smart Stadium, SK Planet will be hosting the Tag Man event. From August 10,
visitors can swipe their smartphones on the NFC tags the stadium staff are holding and win prizes such as
a cup of Starbucks Ice Americano, OK Cashbag points, OK Cashbag merchant mobile coupons and tickets
to a SK Wyverns match.

New features in the pipeline include replay of highlights from the previous match, real-time cheers for players,
and location finder.

“With growth in the number of NFC-enabled smartphones in use, we now have a better foundation for delivering
services that leverage the NFC technology,” said Lee Joon-sik, Senior Vice President and Head of OK Cashbag
Division of SK Planet. “Smart Stadium is just the beginning, with far more innovative NFC-enabled services to
come from various cultural and industrial sectors.”

SK Planet had in fact demonstrated the potential of NFC-based service offerings in September 2011. On a
smaller pilot scale, the food delivery ordering and location search services were showcased. SK Planet has
also presented the Smart Stadium at Mobile World Congress (MWC) and spoke of partnership with prestigious
European football clubs such as FA Barcelona and Arsenal.
