- To Set up NFC Tag Zone at Garosu-gil and hold Tag Street Event - Users can simply tap NFC-enabled smartphones against NFC tag at 22 participating stores to earn OK Cashbag points, check store information and launch mission - Brings a whole new experience of collecting loyalty points by removing the use of a separate terminal and loyalty membership card
Seoul, Korea, August 16, 2013—SK Planet today announced that OK Cashbag will set up NFC Tag Zone at Garosu-gil, Sinda-dong, Gangnam-gu and hold Tag Street Event designed to enable customers to collect loyalty points simply by swiping their smartphones against NFG tags, saving customers the hassle of carrying membership loyalty cards. The industry’s first-of-its-kind event will run for two months from August to September.
Near Field Communication (NFC) is a set of short-range wireless technologies that allow data transfers between devices within the range of ten centimeters.
The aim of the event is to give customers the opportunity to experience the convenience of utilizing NFC technology in collecting OK Cashbag points at Garosu-gil which is renowned for trendy fashion boutiques and fashionable restaurants and fast becoming the testing ground for marketing new products. Participating 22 merchants include restaurants, coffee shops, and boutiques.
Any user of NFC-ready smartphone can experience the service simply by tapping the smartphone against the NFC tag which will pull up corresponding store information as well as participating merchant information.
Moreover, users will receive 500 OK Cashbag points during the first visit to any participating store. Depending on the frequency and scope of store visits, customers can also collect additional 2,000-39,000 points after performing missions such as ‘Garosu-gil Mania,’ ‘Garosu-gil Explorer’ and ‘Garosu-gil Patron.’
“This is the industry’s first try at adopting NFC technology in stores that are not OK Cashbag merchants in order to allow customers experience the convenience of collecting loyalty points without the use of a separate terminal and loyalty membership card,” said Lee Joon-sik, Senior Vice President of SK Planet. “Going forward, we will redouble our efforts to bring in new technologies and develop new benefits to enhance the value of our loyalty points for 36 million OK Cashbag members.”
