SK Planet Pickat Achieves Over 3 Million Downloads in 10 Months

2013.10.22
-  Covering 335 localities and 82 types of business through stronger place recommendations updated
daily while offering social, information management and search features for more accessible local information
-  Hot themes, places and points of interests of popular pickers to become viewable on mobile Nate map in December

Seoul, Korea, October 22, 2013—SK Planet announced that pickat, a social point-of-interest service (www.pickat.com),
has reached 3 million downloads in just ten months since launch.

Pickat users can search for places to eat, travel and play from a variety of recommendations posted by trend-savvy
people and take their ‘pick’. Afterwards, they can add their own opinions based on their experience of the place
in order to share the information with others.

The unique advantage of pickat is the value of information that is updated every day based on the real experiences
of its users. The recommendations are different from what’s typically offered by other point of interest services.
Place recommendations are organized around uniquely relevant themes. Examples include ‘best places for a day
trip to enjoy autumn leaves’, ‘best walks for men in autumn’, and ‘late autumn in Mungyeongsaejae’. These are
a few of many special place themes only available on pickat. The fresh take on place recommendation has appealed
to mobile users as is evident in the cumulative 3 million downloads since launch in December 2012.

The latest pickat version is even better than its predecessor. Social, information management and search features
have been significantly upgraded. Users can now easily search for individuals by their pickat nicknames and include
them in their own friends list. This allows them to add celebs, such as the band Kiha and the Faces, voice actress
Yuri Seo, and food stylist Shinae Hong, in their friends list to share and get updates of their posts, pictures and
place reviews.

Moreover, it is much easier now to manage records of the places you’ve visited or would like to in the future.
If you find an appealing place your friend has posted, simply save it on ‘My Picks’ for later. Your record of spots
visited or searched is kept safely and efficiently for the time when such information could come in handy.
Last but not least, the search feature has been revamped to return results ranked in the order of popularity
based on the number of times each entry has been ‘picked’. Thus the search results are displayed in a more
intuitive and more accurate order of users’ preference and interest than before when the ranking was more or
less ambiguous in its logic.

In December, SK Planet plans to integrate pickat and the Nate mobile map so that the picked places may be
found in relation to one’s current location. Users can view various themes, trendiest it spots, and interesting
places chosen by pickers who have a sizable following all on the nate map itself without loading a separate app.

“SK Planet has introduced many features to deliver greater convenience and contents that matter to our users,”
said Kim Hoo-jong, Vice President and Head of LBS Business Division of SK Planet. “We believe in linking
pickat with other location based services to create a truly social LBS that embraces both mobile and online
offerings. We will develop pickat into a location-based marketing platform that connects with the local
community and supports various business models.”
