SK Planet Hosts ‘Creator Planet 2014’

    integrated commerce: Seamless integration of online, offline and mobile experience’

Seoul, Korea, August 31, 2014—SK Planet announced that the company held the Creator Planet 2014
that provided an overview of the global Internet of Things (IoT) application and technology trends in the
form of an informal conference on August 30 at Ferrum Tower in Jung-gu, Seoul.
 
The Creator Planet was first conceived as a part of SK Planet’s Dong Go Dong Rak Program,
which aims to nurture partnership in the IT and mobile ecosystem. The Creator Planet is designed
to support creative activities of participating startups and help them reach their full potential,
while providing them a chance to showcase their products at the open conference.

 
Now into its second year, Creator Planet 2014 was held under the theme of ‘The age of integrated
commerce: Seamless integration of online, offline and mobile experience’ to provide an opportunity
to share creative ideas and applications centering on hardware and software convergence across
online, offline and mobile.
 
This year’s visionary keynotes were delivered by Dr. Shigeru Kobayashi, associate professor of IAMAS
(Institute of Advanced Media Arts and Sciences), James Powderly, world-renowned designer
, and
Kim Byung-soo, founder of Robotis, Inc. Keynote session delivered by speakers well-known for their works
on IoT provided a great opportunity to get a broad glimpse of diverse trends in IoT development across
the globe. The keynote session was followed by ‘Office Hour’ which promoted greater interaction and
engagement between the audience and lecturers, allowing participants to ask more individual questions
and share deeper thoughts.
 
The general session included 12 IoT project exhibitions featuring creative works of talented startups
such as Hello!Geeks, a participant of Siggraph; n.thing, the winner of Kstartup; 3L Labs; and Make Sense,
along with creators of open source wearable devices and umbrella that can respond to weather.
The visitors showed great interest as they could actually interact with the final works of these teams
that participated in a month-long workshop and training program.

 
Moreover, visitors had a chance to experience SK Planet’s beacon-powered Syrup and first-hand
enjoy the convenience that IoT-based services bring.
