Weather Pong ? More Widgets, Better Info and Greater Relatability

2015.01.15
-  Offers useful info—e.g. time, hourly weather, particulate matter levels—and new widgets with
configurable wallpaper and display transparency settings for better UX

-  A unique weather information app with animated character emoticons and more detailed forecasts
-  More precise weather forecasts based on a combination of data from KMA and Korea’s only weather
observation network exclusively covering the metropolitan area

Seoul, January 15, 2015—SK Planet today announced that Weather Planet (http://www.weatherplanet.co.kr/), the
company’s local weather information platform released Weather Pong 5.0. The latest version of the mobile weather
app features a variety of widgets and animated emoticons which enhance user experience and the effectiveness
of weather information delivery.

The upgraded Weather Pong presents relevant information such as time, current weather conditions, hourly and
weekly forecasts, and weather-related notifications using eight different weather widgets. Notifications can be
checked on the widget when there are adverse weather conditions such as high density of particulate matters in the
air or when extreme weather alerts have been issued. Users can configure wallpaper, display transparency and location.
The latter may be one’s current location or any location for which weather information is desired.

The new version has enhanced fun elements. Pong, the endearing mascot of the app, greets the user on the main screen,
and changes faces according to the weather condition being relayed.

Weather Pong 5.0 also offers greater value to the user in terms of information content. The daily forecasts are presented
in greater detail based on data collated from SK Planet’s very own meteorological observation network and combining
that with the nationwide weather data from the Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA). SK Planet is the first to build
a denser network of over 1,000 observation points concentrated in the metropolitan area. This infrastructure enables
Weather Pong to deliver more accurate and precise forecasts. Moreover, the app provides information about particulate
matter levels and UV rays. Weather Pong 5.0 is available for download at T Store.

Song Kwang-su, Senior Vice President and Head of Enterprise Business Division of SK Planet explained, “The new
Weather Pong has additional features and options smartphone users want. It has been designed to deliver weather
information in a fun and user-friendly way.” He envisions Weather Planet to grow “beyond a weather app into a total
lifestyle service that can deliver values that will help make life better.”
