Seoul, Korea, December 2, 2014—SK Planet announced that it has expanded Syrup shopping zone to five
major shopping districts in Seoul.
 
Launched in June this year, Syrup is an integrated commerce brand that leverages Bluetooth Low Energy
(BLE) to offer O2O (Online to Offline) commerce services. Syrup consists of the company’s mobile wallet
service ‘Syrup’, integrated membership service ‘OK CASHBAG by Syrup’, mobile voucher service ‘Syrup Gifticon’,
and mobile pre-ordering service 'Syrup Order’.
 
Thanks to the recent expansion, Syrup users will receive diverse offers and benefits through BLE beacons installed
at 1,500 stores located in the shopping districts at Hongdai, Gangnam, Myungdong, Konkuk University and Daehangno.
 
Syrup app users visiting partnering stores will receive in-store mobile coupons through BLE beacons installed
inside the store. Along with discount coupons and free vouchers, shoppers will also be prompted with special offers
and promotions, enjoying better and faster customer experiences. Moreover, Syrup incorporates geo-fencing technology
that uses the global positioning system to define virtual geographical boundaries. When an opt-in customer enters
the defined commercial zone, a pack of mobile coupons issued by nearby store will be sent to the customer.
 
After setting up Syrup smart shopping zone at Pan-gyo Avenue France in August, SK Planet is expanding the reach
of Syrup to major shopping malls in Seoul as well as franchised convenience stores and coffee houses. In addition,
SK Planet is expanding the installation of BLE equipment to major shopping districts in Seoul including Jongro, Itaewon,
Garosu Street, and Shinchon, spurring the effort to create a smart shopping environment through Syrup.
 
Syrup Order is available for download on T Store, Google Play, and Apple App Store regardless of the preferred mobile
network carrier. BLE services are only available for Bluetooth 4.0-enabled smartphones powered by Android OS 4.3
(Jelly Bean) or higher and iOS 7 or higher.
 
To celebrate the recent service expansion, ‘Syrup Coupon King’ event and offline promotions will be held until
December 20th. SK Planet will be giving away coupons valued at KRW 100,000, a total of 50,000 GS25 mobile
vouchers worth KRW 1,000, and 200 OK Cashbag points to customers who download BLE coupon.
