SK Planet Rolls Out iOS Version of Mobile Pre-Ordering Service 'Syrup Order’

2015.03.04
- The online-to-offline (O2O) service allows customers to find nearby stores, place orders, and pay for items on their smartphones
- Gives customers the ability to pick up their order without having to wait in line even during the morning and lunch rush at 145 outlets of seven coffeehouse brands including Café DROPTOP and Coffee Smith

Seoul, Korea, February 4, 2015—SK Planet today announced the launch of an iOS version of the Syrup Order, a mobile pre-ordering service that allows customers to place orders and pay for items on their smartphones.

Syrup Order uses a location tracker and uses this data to help customers find nearby stores and their menus.
The online-to-offline (O2O) service also allows customers to place their orders before they arrive at the store — and avoid in-store lines — while giving them the ability to make payments directly from their mobile device.

After the launch of the android version of the Syrup Order in October last year, SK Planet has implemented upgrades to the service such as connecting to Syrup and enhancing pickup notification function.
With the roll outof the iOS version, a new feature ‘Store Locator’ has been added to enable users to locate stores and place orders in areas where GPS reception is poor.

The number of its partnering stores jumped from 10 to 145 in four months after launch. The service is currently available at 80 outlets of Café DROPTOP, 50 stores of Coffee Smith and outlets of five other coffeehouse brands. SK Planet is signing up more coffee outlets in major shopping districts in Seoul such as Shinsa, Hongdai, Jongno, and Daehangno as well as in locations with heavy traffic flows such as Busan Centum City.
SK Planet plans to expand the reach of its service by joining partnership with diverse coffeehouse franchises.

Syrup Order has increased its popularity with its main users in their late teens to early thirties (61% of the users are in the 18~35 age group) by simplifying the process of paying for orders.
Rather than pay at the register, users can make payments directly from a credit card, mobile phone, or Paypin from their smartphone. SK Planet plans to further add ‘Syrup Pay’, a simple-to-use payment service that is under development to deliver quick and easy payment optimized for mobile.

Against the backdrop of Online-to-Offline (O2O) service making its appearance across the industry, SK Planet is accelerating its O2O commerce business through its integrated commerce brand Syrup.

“Our simple-to-use mobile order and pay service will allow customers to enjoy a ‘smarter shopping experience’ which is the motto of Syrup,” said Park Jung-min, Senior Vice President and Head of Consumer Product Group of SK Planet. “SK Planet will continue its efforts to establish itself as a leading force in the mobile pre-ordering field by expanding its partner base and moving deeper into the food and beverage industry.”

Syrup Order is available for download on T Store, Google Play, and Apple’s App Store regardless of the preferred mobile network carrier.
